Coaches' Corner
1/28/12: Parkview Swim and Dive had one of our most impressive county
meets of all time this weekend. The boys brought home a county championship while the girls finished in a very strong
third place. Our individual county champions are Sean Piner (diving), Tabitha Banks (diving), and Ricky Lehner (breast).
The girls were able to win two thrilling relays! The first place medley relay of Anna Tait, Julianne Kurke,
Megan Yang, and Morgan Fleming started off the meet with a bang. Later, the 200 free relay of Yang, Megan Reeves, Kurke,
and Fleming took first while breaking a school record that dated back to 1997! Julianne Kurke also broke Ashley Daly's
school record in the 100 breastroke! Great job for a great team effort! Let's keep the excitement rolling into
state!
1/20/12 The Battle of Five Forks trophy is back in Parkview's hands. The men's team won 197-111,
while the women came up short, 137-175. It was an incredible meet. In fact, the Brookwood vs Parkview
meet is the best dual meet in Georgia year after year! Thank you to the parents, teachers, friends, and family who came
out to support the swim and dive team. The atmosphere helped to propel the team on to some great performances.
To start, we now have the ENTIRE team qualified for the county meet! Wes Shaw, Allex Harper, Jake Tillery, and Anna
Finco all qualified for state for the first time! Great job Panthers!
1/13/12 The Parkview men's team flexed their muscles Friday night with a win over Peachtree
Ridge and Archer (306-225-103). We won eleven out of twelve events, including multiple events where we took first, second,
and third. In diving, Sean, Ben, and Patrick placed first, second, and third while Tabitha won womens' diving.
The Parkview women (221 points) took second place to Peachtree Ridge (240 points) while the Archer women took third with
167 points. It was a great showing despite missing several of our own swimmers. It's time for the Brookwood meet!
Go Panthers!
1/7/12:
Parkview's men and women overcame
a bizarre weak of training, some cold water, and missing swimmers to beat North Gwinnett. It was great to back into
competition after several difficult weeks of training. Let's keep the momentum going as we approach the most important
meets of the year!
The Parkview men and women faced a very formidable
foe in Collins Hill on Friday night. Both the men and women rose to the occasion, with the men winning 185 to 129
and the women winning 187 to 127. Parkview especially took pride in the relay events by taking first place in every
relay and establishing times that will rank extremely well in the state. Our focus now turns to training through Christmas
break and preparing for the championship meets in January and February. Merry Christmas!
It was a big weekend for Parkview Swim and Dive.
The divers started the weekend with a bang on Friday night. Tabitha Banks won the girls competition, and Sean Piner
followed with a win for the boys. Sean was backed up by state qualifiers Ben Warren, Chris Yenney, and Connor Rosenthal.
We had many best times on Saturday morning at Clody, and many of our USS swimmers have respresented us well at the USS state
championships in Athens. Go Parkview!
12/3/2011: The Parkview men and women both dominated Harrison Saturday morning. The men won
235-62 while the women won 181-106. Congratulations to our new state and county qualifiers! We are just short
of having 90% of the team qualified for county.
Fun Fact:
Parkview has ten (10) different men qualified for state in the 100 breastroke!! More are still to come!
11/19/2011: The coaches are extremely pleased with the performance and effort of the Parkview
swimmers and divers. Last year, we battled Brookwood and Alpharetta on this same weekend. When you compare results,
we are ahead of where we were last year. The improvement is especially seen in the relays where the Parkview women are
already matching times that they swam at the end of last season. Great job Parkview!
Scores - Women
1. Brookwood 271
2. Parkview 216
3. Alpharetta 156
Scores - Men
1. Parkview 284
2. Brookwood 204
3. Alpharetta 156
11/18/11: The Parkview men and women walked out of Wesleyan with
a huge win over Wesleyan. The girls took the lead early by winning the medley relay, then kept the
momentum rolling to win 184-130. Morgan Fleming (50 free), Chelsea Keown (500 free and 100 breastroke), and Anna Tait
(100 backstroke) all won individual events. The men also opened the meet with a bang by taking first and second
in the medley relay. Ben Warren (diving), Dillon Kasson (500 free), Rory Martin (100 back), and Nathan Jones (100 breastroke)
won individual events. Great job Parkview!
11/12/11:
In our first meet of the year, the Parkview men beat Mill Creek 188-121 while the women fell short, 137-172. This may
have been one of our best "first meets" ever. Many returning swimmers are already bettering their best times
from last season! Starting with the medley relay, we established that we are a team to be reckoned with. Both
the men's and the women's medley relays dominated the field with times that will rank near the top in the state. Dillon
Kasson, Geoff Carter, Christopher Rogers, Rory Martin, Ricky Lehner, Sean Piner, Tabitha Banks, Julianne Kurke, and Anna
Tait all won individual events. In diving, Sean Piner broke the county record, and Tabitha Banks broke the school record.
Earlier in the day, Piner, Banks, and Ben Warren all qualified for state at an 11 dive invitational. Great
job Panthers!!
